Biomechanics

BreakAway has the world’s most advanced system for understanding how well athletes move and are able meet the on-field, on-court, in-game demands of their positions.

Our Field Labs biomechanics assessments use 8 high-speed cameras and cutting-edge motion-capture technology to measure Real Positional Movements, which reveal how precise athletes cut, how fast they move in and out of cuts, how well they maintain balance, and other key factors that traditional eye tests can’t account for.

With a setup that is mobile and flexible, we test athletes in football, basketball and soccer doing drills that they are familiar with during the regular the flow of practice. Results are delivered directly to athletes in the BreakAway app, and also shared with coaching staffs.

Year over year evaluations and other interval repeat tests give coaches and athletes concrete evidence of growth, capabilities, and areas to target for improvement.

Most important: Biomechanical baselines are crucial when it comes to making return-to-play decisions after injuries.

How athletes move is how they play—and our Field Labs assessments remove all doubt and uncertainty.

“Athletes feel their movement, but coaches can only see it. Data bridges that communication gap. Coaches and athletes can now target results and measure progress with precision.”
