Women's Flag Football Scholarships: Colleges at Scholarship Levels (2026-27)
126 colleges field varsity women's flag football at levels that allow athletic scholarships, as of October 16, 2026: 17 in NCAA Division I, 47 in NCAA Division II and 62 in NAIA.
A level that allows aid does not promise it, so ask each coach what the program funds. 47 more play where aid is set college by college, and 72 play in Division III, which gives none.

How equivalency works. When coaches can call.
An equivalency limit is a team total counted in full scholarships, not in players. A coach can give one athlete a full award and split the rest into partial ones, so on most equivalency rosters a few players hold large awards, many hold small ones and some walk on. Where a level sets no number, each school decides what it funds.
| Level | Contact and eligibility |
|---|---|
| NCAA Division I | Calls, texts and recruiting materials from June 15 after sophomore year. Off-campus contact and official visits from August 1 of junior year. Register with the NCAA Eligibility Center. |
| NCAA Division II | Recruiting materials, calls and texts at any time. In-person off-campus contact and official visits after June 15 before junior year. Register with the NCAA Eligibility Center. |
| NCAA Division III | No recruiting calendars. In-person off-campus contact only after the player finishes sophomore year of high school. |
| NAIA | No contact calendar. Coaches may not contact a player already practicing at another NAIA school. First-time players need the NAIA Eligibility Center. |
| NJCAA (junior college) | No flag football contact rules published yet. Ask each college's athletic department. |
Your questions.Straight answers.
Which level has the most scholarship-eligible teams?
NAIA, with 62 varsity programs. Its NAIA team list has conferences and first seasons.
Are there full-ride women's flag football scholarships?
Some players earn one, most do not. Limits are team totals, so a full award for one player leaves less for the rest of the roster; ask the coach how the money is split and whether it renews.
Do Division III or club teams give athletic scholarships?
No. Division III schools do not offer athletic scholarships. Clubs sit outside varsity athletics, so the NCAA Division III team list and the college club team list are where academic and need-based aid matter most.
