This is youth sport, so the defaults are conservative. Nothing about an athlete is public unless someone with the right to decide says so, and that decision can be reversed at any time.
Private by default
A new athlete profile is not public and is not indexed by search engines. That is the starting state, not something you switch on.
High school is different
For high school athletes, public stats are the norm and usually the point, because that is where recruiting happens. Still opt-out at any time.
You can change your mind
Visibility is a setting you control from the profile, not a checkbox buried in terms you agreed to once.
