Can you jump, dive or spin in flag football?
Spins are mostly legal. Jumping mostly is not. NFL FLAG bans jumping and hurdling but allows spins. USA Flag calls leaving your feet to escape a flag pull flag guarding. IFAF makes jumping and diving a 5-yard foul. College and high school make hurdling a player a 10-yard foul.
Jumping and diving can hurt kids. Teach your players to stay on their feet.

Hurdling a player costs 10 yards. If the defense does it, the offense also gets a first down. Hurdling has a new definition for 2026-27. A runner is down if a knee, hip or anything else besides a hand or foot hits the ground.
Illinois (IHSA) makes no change here.
IFAF Flag Football

No jumping or diving: 5 yards and the down. Dipping is fine. Spinning is fine unless your flags fly up.
College Flag Football

Hurdling a standing player costs 10 yards. Diving into the end zone with no one near you is unsportsmanlike.
